Renee has worked in the Bay Area non-profit sector for over two decades, focusing on racial justice communications and project management. She gains inspiration from her incredible network of fellow movement makers and helps social justice organizations advance their vision and programs.
Renee joined Akonadi Foundation in 2014 to help increase the organization’s administrative and communications capacity. She serves as Akonadi Foundation’s communications manager and also provides organizational, administrative support.
Her previous work includes the co-founder of Mamacitas Cafe, a women-owned and youth-operated catering company in Oakland. Also, ten years at KPFA Radio, 94.1 FM. As the Co-Director of the First Voice Apprenticeship Program at KPFA, Renee trained women and people of color in broadcast journalism, media justice, and personal empowerment. She is the co-founder of KPFA’s Asian American Radio show, Apex Express, and Full Circle Radio Magazine. Renee was also a contributing producer for the Peabody-awarded documentary on Asian American history, Crossing East.
