I’m  remembering why I love home, why I love the Bay Area so much. We’re fighters and there’s something special about this land. It’s cultivated so much resistance against the state and it still lives on today.

We’re stuck in these little cubes and it makes it really hard. During these times I’m trying to figure out, “how do I get creative?” And try to take care of my mental state and be there for justice, and be safe. But then I also have to be there for myself. It’s really hard.

I grew up in these areas that were Brown, Black and very Indigenous, and have a lot of pride. So, it’s sad that I can’t go back to the Fillmore, the old neighborhood I grew up in. When I go there now, everything is different.
